A few things you should know:
- Trash and recyclables are picked up on Thursday-have on the curb by 6:00 AM. Get recycling bucket at the Village Office.
- Grass Clippings, leaves and yard waste are your responsibility-compost. Or, you can take them to the village Shop at 1225 Bourbon Rd. There is a drop off site on the West side of the building.
- Brush pickup in the Village is on the second and forth Tuesday of each month. You must call the Village Office to get your name on the list. (608-798-3241 ext 102 or 109)
- Appliances are picked up on the 1st Thursday of each month by Town and Country. There is a $25.00 fee per appliance which needs to be paid to the Village Office no later than the Friday before pickup day. Please call Town and Country at 1-800-626-1915 with any special pickup needs.
- After a 2" or greater snowfall there is no on-street parking for 24 hours. The rest of the time there are no winter parking regulations.
- Recreation Program offerings are announced as formulated through the Cross Plains Arrow and come home with all K-8 school age children through the schools.
- Park shelters and pool can be rented for special occasions by calling 798-3241 x107.
- Taxes are to be paid at the Village Office by 1/31 of each year. If you pay 1st installment by 1/31, the second installment gets mailed directly to the Dane County Treasurer in late July. Late payment also get sent directly to Dane County.
- Cats and Dogs are to be licenced annually. Bring proof of rabies vaccination to the Village Office to get licenses. Neutered and spayed cats and dogs are $10.00, unneutered and unspayed cats and dogs are $15.00.
- Bike licenses are available at the Village Office. Bring serial number of bike to the Village Office to get licensed.
- Our local newspaper, the Cross Plains Arrow, comes out each Thursday. Deadline for news items is 11:00 AM Monday at the Village Office.
- Meeting notices are always printed in the Cross Plains Arrow and are posted outside the Municipal Building. Unless noted, all Village meetings are open to the public and attendance is encouraged. Contact the Village Office, 798-3241, if you would like to serve on one of our many committees.
- The Rosemary Garfoot Public Library is open daily, with some evening hours. Stop by to get information on all the latest programs. Located at 2107 Julius St.
- We have a volunteer fire department, a volunteer EMS service and a 6 person police department.
- The State Bank of Cross Plains accepts payments for VISA, Madison Gas & Electric, Mid-Plains Telephone and Cross Plains Water-Sewer Utility bills. Water-Sewer Utility bills can also be paid directly at the Municipal Building, 2417 Brewery Rd.
- Water-Sewer Utility bills are mailed out quarterly and are due within 20 days of receipt of bill. Call 798-3241 x109 to find out about electronic bill payments.

- All elections are held at the Fire Station on Bourbon Rd. Polls are open 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM.
- Building Permits are necessary for all home projects except carpet, painting, wallpapering and landscaping. That includes plumbing and electrical projects.
- All private wells and/or cisterns on your property must be reported to Public Works 798-4060.
- All sump pumps must drain to the outside lawn area. Absolutely no sump pumps should drain to basement floor drains into the sanitary sewer.
