Drug Take Back Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 22, 2023, 10am-Noon.
Twice a year the Cross Plains Police Department, in conjunction with hundreds of agencies throughout the United States, sponsors a prescription drug take back day. This allows people to safely and securely dispose of unwanted/expired prescription drugs. With prescription drug abuse continually on the rise, the take back day is a way to rid medicine cabinets of unwanted pills. There is also an environmental benefit as drugs collected are kept from being flushed into our sewer system or buried in our landfills.
Please empty pills into sealed plastic bags and recycle the pill bottles at home. If you are dropping off liquids or creams, they may remain in the original container, but also placed in a sealed plastic bag to avoid spillage.
You can dispose of:
- Prescription Medicine (pills, liquids and creams)
- Over-the-Counter Medicine (pills, liquids and creams)
- Medications for Pets
- Vitamins
- Inhalers
- Nebulizer Solution
- Medication Samples
- Illegal Drugs (Illegal Drugs will be taken, no questions asked. They will be turned over to the proper authorities immediately for proper disposal.)
We do not accept:
- Needles/Epi Pens/Sharps
- IV Bags
- Oxygen Tanks
- Nebulizer Machines
- Thermometers
If you are not able to make it to Drug Take Back Day, please remember that we do have a Med Drop Program, where you can drop off these same meds at the police station during regular business hours.
