Ironman Wisconsin is celebrating 20 years this year!
On Sunday, September 11th, 2022 Ironman Wisconsin will be held throughout portions of Dane County. Athletes will start by swimming 2.4 miles in Lake Monona. After hopping out of the lake, they will get on their bikes and ride 112 miles through the Driftless Area, including the Village of Cross Plains. After winding down country roads and tackling huge hills, they will run 26.2 miles around downtown Madison.
Every year, the Ironman bike course comes down Garfoot Road at the west side of town, turning onto Hwy KP, then down Bourbon Road and back off on Hwy P towards Stagecoach Rd. It is an exciting time that brings many spectators to our Village. Because of the bike traffic and added spectators, please expect to face some delays in traffic along Hwy KP, Hwy P and Bourbon Rd. Bikers will have the right of way on all streets during the race, so please be patient.
We encourage you to go out and cheer these athletes on as they compete in one of the best and hardest Ironman courses in the world.
